Solms Delta

Franschhoek

Solms-Delta is an estate with a difference. The estate celebrates the history and heritage of the farm workers whose families have lived and worked here for generations – and strives to address some of the wrongdoings of the past by empowering and giving opportunities for a better future through education and sustainable projects.

Visitors to the estate can take part in one of six guided tours, mostly led by resident farm workers, which take in elements of the estate such as its history, music, culinary influences as well as its wines and vineyards. The social history of the 320-year-old estate is displayed in the Museum van de Caab in the original wine cellar which dates back to 1740. Wine tastings take place seven days a week from 09h00 – 17h00 at a cost of R10 per person (cost waived on purchase of wine).

The acclaimed Fyndraai restaurant serves traditional Cape fare using farm fresh seasonal ingredients harvested from the estate’s own gardens – another sustainable initiative. Freshly packed picnic baskets can be enjoyed during the summer months – where visitors can wander the gardens, the forest and the river banks to find their perfect picnic spot. Pre-bookings are essential and numbers are limited to ensure privacy and space for all.
