The John Benn

Knysna

With one of the major attractions of Knysna being its lagoon – it’s almost essential that visitors experience some kind of trip out onto the water. One of the ‘icons’ of Knysna is the John Benn – a beautiful ferry crafted from Yellowwood sourced from the Knysna forest. The fully enclosed John Benn, named after a famous pilot, has carried passengers on the lagoon for the past 25 years.

Lunch time and sunset cruises are offered on-board the floating restaurant which serves an a la carte menu, and there is a bar on both the upper and lower decks – perfect for enjoying a drink while you take in the beautiful views.

Special groups and private functions can be arranged on request. The duration of the trip is 1 ½ hours and departs at 12h30 (lunchtime cruise); 18h00 (summer sunset cruise) and 17h00 (winter sunset cruise). Departs from the Knysna Waterfront Quays.
