If Knysna is well known for the Knysna Heads and the Knysna seahorse, so too is it known and loved for its oysters. In fact, there is an entire festival dedicated to oysters which takes place in June/July of each year. For visitors interested in seeing, tasting and finding out more about these local delicacies, there are a few options available.

Join the Oyster Tour for a 2-hour cruise of the lagoon where you’ll learn everything you need to know about the Knysna Oyster. Learn how to open oysters, and get to taste the difference between both wild and farmed oysters. The trip departs seven days a week, weather dependant. Maximum of 13 guests and booking is essential.

The Oyster Experience is a 45 minute indoor educational which includes an oyster presentation, shucking, and tasting. Get to know about wild and cultivated oysters and learn more about the history of Knysna as well as the marine life in and around the lagoon. Seven days a week. Open from 09h00 – 19h00.
