World of Birds

Hout Bay

The World of Birds in Hout Bay is a bird and wildlife sanctuary with over 3000 birds in natural surroundings. Visitors are able to walk through the aviaries and experience close-up encounters with cranes and guinea fowl, monkeys and meerkats, owls and eagles. the large walk-through Monkey Jungle is home to 38 cheeky and inquisitive squirrel monkeys – don’t be surprised if you end up with one of your shoulder – but watch out; they have nimble fingers and they like to pickpocket!

The sanctuary also cares for injured birds and is a breeding centre for threatened species. This is a super outing for the whole family - as long as you aren’t afraid of birds.

Open 365 days a year from 9am to 5pm. Adults cost is R75, Children R40 and Pensioners and Students (with card) R55.
