Delaire

Stellenbosch

Situated at the top of the spectacular Helshoogte Pass, Delaire Graff Estate has undergone extensive changes in recent years since its acquisition in 2003 by Laurence Graff, Chairman of Graff Diamonds International. Previous owner John Platter, the well known wine writer, bought the estate in 1982 and changed the name from Avontuur to Delaire Estate, meaning "From the Sky”. Today the now Delaire Graff Estate is home to two outstanding restaurants, a state-of-the-art winery, exclusive Lodges, a spa, two luxury boutiques and an outstanding art collection.

Visitors to the estate can sample the Delaire Graff wine range in The Wine Lounge where original artworks from Laurence Graff ’s personal collection are on display featuring some of South Africa’s finest contemporary artists. The large fireplace in the wine lounge makes for cosy winter tastings and in summer, outside seating offers an idyllic setting for tastings and sundowners. Group tastings and cellar tours on request and by reservation.

Visitors should also take the time to explore the estate gardens which have been designed and landscaped by acclaimed horticulturalist Keith Kirsten. Over 300 new and mainly indigenous plants, shrubs and trees have been planted, including milkwoods and yellowwoods; while tranquil water features, reflective pools and the majestic mountain backdrop make for an ideal setting for the specially commissioned sculptures.

The Wine Lounge is open for tastings Monday to Saturday from 09:30am - 19:00pm; on Sunday from 10:30am - 17:00pm and on Public Holidays from 09:30am - 19:00pm.

Delaire Graff Restaurant is open daily for lunch, and Wednesday – Saturday for dinner. (No children under 12 years). The Asian inspired Indochine is open Monday to Sundays for lunch and dinner. Reservations recommended.
