Newlands Brewery

Newlands

Enjoy a memorable beer experience and a taste of history at the Newlands Brewery set on the banks of the Liesbeek River in the heart of Newlands. Beer was first brewed in South Africa by Pieter Visagie in 1658, but the refreshing drink dates back to approximately 9500 BC, when cereal was first farmed.

At the Newlands Brewery guests will journey back to the early 1800’s when the oldest commercial brewery, Mariendahl Brewery, was built here by Jacob Letterstedt.
