Description

From the coastline with over 800km of unspoiled beaches to the dry interior of the Great Karoo, the Eastern Cape has a rich and diverse heritage. Incorporating the seaside towns of East London and Port Elizabeth, the beauty of the Wild Coast shoreline, the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg mountains and unrivaled game viewing at the Addo Elephant and Shamwari game reserves, the Eastern Cape has more than enough to offer.

Port Elizabeth, known as the 'Friendly City', is the capital of the province and is located on the shores of Algoa Bay. Activities include nature trails and various historical sites as well as numerous watersports on the popular beaches. With its warm waters and calm seas, Port Elizabeth is favoured by sailing enthusiasts.

East London, in the heart of the Sunshine and Wild Coast region, also offers many recreational facilities, sports facilities and watersports. On the Wild Coast stretch, the beauty of the untamed coastline attracts angling enthusiasts and is a favourite holiday destination for families .

The Eastern Cape is home to the Addo Elephant National Park - the most concentrated elephant reserve in Africa. Home to a herd of 300 elephants, the park allows for close quarter viewing. The exclusive Shamwari Game Reserve and the Mountain Zebra National Parks both offer prime game viewing opportunities with many options available to travellers.
