The quaint mining town of Cullinan is just 30 kilometres east of Pretoria; offering a break from busy town-life, replacing traffic with quiet strolls, and skyscrapers with old mine workers houses. Streets have a distinct mining village feel with stone houses, churches, and oak trees and jacarandas lining the streets.
Cullinan forms a living museum and a tribute to a bygone era. Buildings are well-preserved with the Edwardian architecture, picket fences, and porches making it a beautifully attractive town. Some of these buildings have been turned into restaurants and coffee shops, making for wonderfully quaint stops.
