Howick is a small, attractive town in the centre of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. It is here that the mighty uMngeni River cascades over a precipice in the form of a powerful 100m tall waterfall known as the Howick Falls. Standing on the purpose built viewing platform looking across the gorge at the waterfall, your breath will be swept away as you take in the enormity of nature and the awe-inspiring power of water. There some worthwhile hiking trails that will lead you through the undergrowth to crystal rock pools and small tributaries.

Howick town offers much more to guests than just the magnificent waterfall. Small shops and stalls along the street create a market-like atmosphere where visitors can wander through and browse at the many tempting wares. There are also a number of small coffee shops and restaurants supplying delicious meals. Small hotels and bed and breakfasts are available if you wish to stay longer in this wonderful environment.
