Mooi River is a small agricultural town set in the beautiful landscape of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. Considered to be the gateway of the Midlands Meander, Mooi River is mainly agriculturally and livestock orientated but is also filled with craft outlets, little cottages and numerous outdoor adventures. Popular stops while exploring the area include ‘Sharrow Spinning and Weaving’ where talented Zulu women transform wool into beautiful and unique knitwear. ‘The Linen Loft’ is also worth a visit. A guided tour of a Racehorse stud farm, or a Training college to learn more about the world of farming can also be arranged.

Mooi River is situated on the banks of a river and offers visitors some excellent fly fishing opportunities. The Voortrekkers settled in this area in 1830 and were so taken by the river and its surrounding scenery that they named it Mooi (which means ‘Pretty’ in Afrikaans) River.
