The agricultural centre of Standerton is situated in the western part of Mpumalanga in the Cosmos Region where the pretty pink and white cosmos flowers adorn the countryside in summer. The Vaal River, one of the biggest in South Africa, flows through the town and offers excellent opportunities for fishing as well as other water-related activities.
