With its hot climate and main economies being mining and agriculture, the Bophirima region received the nickname 'Texas of South Africa'. Vryberg has some of the largest cattle herds in the world, and the region also produces maize, nuts, fruit, tobacco, wheat, and cotton. Large tracts of the savannah bushveld have been turned into private game reserves where you can view rhino, lion, buffalo and smaller antelope.
