Time has stood still in the quaint countryside village of McGregor and it is described as being ‘the best preserved and most complete example of mid-nineteenth century townscape in the Cape Province’. Most of the buildings are traditionally Cape Dutch in architecture with whitewashed walls and thatched roofs.

McGregor has become a haven for artists in recent years and a variety of art forms are represented in the village from painting to sculpture and pottery. Visitors who wander the picturesque main street will find a variety of country stores, pubs and art galleries to explore.

With fresh country air and beautiful scenery, McGregor offers plenty of opportunities for walking and hiking - in addition there are some excellent wine estates in the nearby Robertson Valley that are well worth visiting.
