Situated approximately half-way between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the picturesque Garden Route, the seaside town of Mossel Bay is a popular holiday destination. Surrounded by white sandy beaches and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the town offers a variety of attractions from relaxing days on sun-drenched beaches to whale watching, deep sea fishing, boating and golf. And, for the more adventurous, why not try shark cage diving or bungy jumping?

Bartolomeu Dias was one of the earliest visitors to Mossel Bay in 1488 when he sailed into the bay and found fresh water supplies. Today the interesting history of the town is on display at the Bartolomeu Dias Museum, including a life size replica of Dias’s ship. Visitors can also visit the “Old Post Office Tree” where passing sailors are believed to have left letters in a boot tied to a milkwood tree.
