Situated at the mouth of the Breede River, Witsand is a popular seaside holiday destination offering plenty of water activities both on the Breede River and at sea. The white sandy beach offers safe swimming and is ideal for walking and the area also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities.

This particular stretch of coastline is home to one of the largest populations of Southern Right Whales who come to mate and calve in these waters from July to November each year.

Witsand is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding attractions including the De Hoop Nature Reserve and the Malgas Pont further up the Breede River. Fishing in the river estuary is noted as amongst the best in the country, and rock anglers are able to fish from the shoreline.
