Whalesong Lodge, a small intimate guesthouse perched on top of the rugged De Kelders Cliffs overlooking the picturesque Walker Bay with the coastline stretching from the white sand dunes of Walker Bay Nature Reserve past Hermanus all the way to Cape Point.
The spacious modern rooms are thoughtfully yet stylishly decorated each with sea view and a small private balcony.
The ensuite bathrooms, with under floor heating, separate bath and shower are elegant and functional.
The large comfortable open plan lounge & dining room lead out to a wooden deck. Ideal to watch the whales that play only meters from the shore. For the cooler months there is a cosy fireplace and a good selection of South African Red Wines.
The wooden deck leads to a small pool but if one prefer to swim in the sea there are a number of small coves within easy walking distance. A short drive will take you to a number of sandy beaches.
De Kelders is situated in the Overberg region on the Cape Southwest coast, only 2 hours from Cape Town past the quaint village of Stanford just before the fishing village of Gansbaai world renowned for its Great White Sharks.
Whalesong Lodge is an ideal base to spend a number of days to explore the area. It’s a paradise for whale watching, shark diving or just leisurely walks along the coast.

"After spotting whales whilst having lunch in Hermanus, imagine our delight when we pulled up at Whalesong Lodge to find those same whales just metres away from where we were staying! Whalesong Lodge is an outstanding guest house in every respect, from its superb location up on the cliffs, to its chic decor to its fabulous hosts who were readily available to discuss our plans and advise on the best routes to take and the best places to visit. Although we were not honeymooners, we had opted for the honeymoon suite to help us celebrate 14 years of marriage and it was breath-taking, with full length windows looking out to the bay we could lie in bed and whale watch to our hearts content. We thoroughly loved our time at Whalesong Lodge and wouldn't hesitate to book here again the next time we are in De Kelders/Gansbaai."
