The Housemartin Guest House is named after the common house martin, sometimes called the northern house martin or, particularly in Europe, just house martin which is a migratory passerine bird of the swallow family which breeds in Europe, North Africa and across the Palearctic; House martin swallows visit South Africa every summer; they make their nests against houses, mainly near outside doors. We have had many house martins nest against our buildings and, therefore, we decided to name the guesthouse after them. Like the Housemartin Guest House, our guests return to us time and time again. Klerksdorp is a city in the North West province of South Africa approximately 180km from Johannesburg on the N12 route towards Kimberley and Cape Town.
