"We arrived at Penny Farthing Country House just after a huge thunder storm - the road in was just passable! What a gem! An amazing place and an amazing host. It was like living history! The house was really interesting and the rooms very comfortable with all we needed. The garden was spectacular. Our host made us welcome and soon we discovered a shared interest in the history of the Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer wars. He had an absolute wealth of knowledge and we never tired listening to his interesting information. As a registered tour guide for the battle fields the highlight of our stay was the trip to Rorke's drift and Isandlwana - it just came alive in our imagination. In addition to this Foye was a great cook and we had fabulous dinners in the evening; lunch’s midday and breakfasts which were excellent each morning. There is no doubt this stay was the high light of our road trip and we would definitely recommend a stay here."
