"We highly recommend the journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town via Britstown. The road is safer and quieter.The best thing about the journey is the overnight stay at the Transkaroo Country Lodge.This owner run establishment is like a rose in the desert. It is attractive,well organised and clean. There is a lovely cool swimming pool to wash off the travel dust and I recommend one of their specialty gins in the Mediterranean style indoor courtyard. The prize of your stay will be the magnificent buffet supper served in the elegant dining room. It is not cheap but more than worth it as the freshly cooked delicious fare will delight both vegetarians and meat lovers. Don't forget to leave room for the puddings. The staff are friendly and obliging and your car is guarded in a lock up facility next to the Hotel. "
