Description
Situated in the unique village of McGregor in the heart of the Robertson wine valley, Fountain Place is housed in one of the oldest buildings in McGregor. Built in 1862 and classed as a National Monument, this traditionally white-washed and thatched building exudes a sense of warmth, friendship and history, along with its reed ceilings and painted bedroom floors.
Fountain Place offers:
• Two guest suites, comprising a bedroom with fireplace, private lounge and Victorian-style shower room. Each bedroom looks onto the delightful walled garden and each lounge has its own entrance onto the vine-covered stoep.
• Tea/coffee/bar fridge facilities in the private lounge
• DSTV in the main lounge (with a large fireplace for the winter)
• English and Dutch-style breakfasts served on the stoep (depending on the weather).

For those of you with young families, or those who simply like to “do your own thing”!!, there is a further option - two traditionally-built, thatched and whitewashed self-catering cottages, situated only 5 minutes walk from the guesthouse. These are charming and self contained, with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Pets are welcome and families with young children will be able to relax whilst the children have the freedom to run around and play.
Visit McGregor and you’ll soon see that there’s much more to it than just quaint 19th century white-washed cottages. The biking and walking trails offer breath-taking views and bird-watching opportunities, plus let’s not forget that McGregor lies on the longest wine route in the world, with many boutique wine farms. There’s something about the air of McGregor which instantly releases stress, whilst also re-charging tired batteries. With many and varied places to satisfy your spirit and your stomach, you will never need, or want, to leave the village.

| Directions: Come into village and you will see a sign for Fountain Place on the right. Take the first turning after that on the right hand side into Barry Street. Go to end and we are on the left, on the corner of Barry and Meul Street. There is a gravel parking area and a gate leading into the property. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fountain Place and the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that there isn't a pool on site, although apparently there is a pool at one of the other properties Mark manages just across the road - we didn't seek it out!
