Our arrival was greeted with a drum tattoo, and huge smiles.
It took patience however to get the electricity (temperamental generator) and lights and water going, but Roberto the chef (where was the manager) eventually sorted things out - except there was no cold beer available. The second evening, he did however produce a memorable supper, in true Mozambican style.
A stunning sunrise will greet you from the balcony, we found Vilankulo very African, we avoided the worst of the potholes, and can recommend a few days sailing round and exploring the islands by dhow.
