At the Southern entrance to the magnificent Meiringspoort, lies the scenic village of De Rust and Housemartin Guest Lodge.
In the garden of the 110 year old Victorian manor house are twelve en-suite luxury guest rooms. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with showers (for water conservation), percale bed linen, in winter heating, mohair blankets and electric under blankets to keep you snug and warm.
Each room has their own veranda leading onto the gardens, orchard and sparkling pool. In the rooms you will find port, and homemade rusks, tea, coffee, and magazines. The atmosphere lures the guests into gentle relaxation after a day exploring the walking and biking trails in the area. The lodge is wheelchair friendly. We also have 4 back packer rooms in which you can expect to experience the same quality as in one of the Luxury rooms.
Guests may enjoy delicious country cuisine at our Restaurant; The Blue Swallow, where all staff and chefs are well trained.

The one improvement that could be made is the checking in process. We were directed by the website to the entrance opposite the petrol station, then redirected around the corner where we received a gate code, only to be sent back to the first gate that we'd first gone to. It's not what you need after a five hour drive. "
