Mongoose Manor is the original homestead of Swanston Farm that borders the Baakens River, and is thought to have been constructed in 1918. The extensive use of rare Yellow Wood in the construction of the home makes it unique in Port Elizabeth and lends a certain grace and character to the homestead. Accommodation is upmarket in modern self-contained rooms, all with private entrance and off-street parking. Rooms are equipped with DSTV have microwaves, toasters etc for those who prefer self catering.

This was a particularly busy week during my stay in South Africa and it was comforting to experience the fine hospitality of my hosts, Barbara and Eugene. Service was excellent, the room well maintained - always clean and tidy - and the breakfasts too were always a delight. I would be pleased to recommend Mongoose Manor to any friend or colleague and would happily stay there again if the opportunity arises.
