Restored historic Victorian mansion set in peace and quiet of beautiful gardens ideal for complete relaxation. Delightful plunge pool set among the trees. Vibrantly decorated ensuite rooms have imported linen, down pillows, mohair blankets, fans, heating & electric blankets. High pressed ceilings throughout, outstanding drawing room for use of guests. Antiques and art throughout the house, persian rugs and interesting hangings.
Pula Guest House prides itself in its breakfasts. A full cooked breakfast with homemade breads jams & marmalades, various teas and filter coffee follow fresh seasonal fruit, fruit juice, homemade muesli and a variety of cereals. Local farmers provide most of the fresh ingredients. Tea and coffee facilities are provided in all bedrooms, as are fans and heaters.
Pula House stands in the very heart of South Africa off the beaten tourist track yet close to the main N1 Johannesburg to Cape Town route and right on the scenic N6 to the Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape . The countryside en route is a pleasure to travel through and the guest house an even greater pleasure to arrive at.
The perfect overnight stop if you are touring the country or heading to Lesotho, Pula House is also a base from which to explore splendid mountains, the Gariep Lake (South Africa's largest inland water), local game reserves and ancient rock art.
We stayed at Pula House on our way back from Morgan Bay. Smithfield is the ideal stopover between the Eastern Cape and Gauteng as it breaks the journey exactly half way.
We found Fabrice and Brendan to be efficient and friendly and felt right at home. Having a swim in the pool was an added bonus in the 40 degree heat that greeted us. We booked 2 double rooms and they were both delightful and comfortable.
Our breakfast was wonderful and we left Pula House feeling refreshed and ready for the last leg of our journey. I can definitely recommend this B&B and will stay there again.

Situated in a nice town. We experienced personal reception, a fancy room, a lovely garden, friendly dogs, and an organized and super dinner. In the morning a good breakfast was enjoyed. Good value for money and we enjoyed our stay at Pula House. Thank you.
