The only thing I must mention that put a real damper on our stay was the staff. There were four receptionists and all of them were really unfriendly and unpleasant. They were not helpful or informative about anything. I feel that it is important having people or staff that is mainly helpful and friendly when running a business. Especially one such as the holiday industry. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend it to anyone. "

"When you reach the port a little paradise is in front of you. Great view from (our) bungalow over the river and the sea. Saturday fish buffet is super including staff performance.

It's not part of Umngazi but something to keep in mind. The last 11,5 km before paradise needs maintenance. "

"If you wanting to treat yourself but especially your wife to a wonderful relaxed and chilled weekend, Umngazi is the place you have to head off too!
Firstly, you are given a warm welcome at the gate where they request your name and type of booking and then you drive to reception who has obviously been alerted that you have come through the gate, as at reception, they have all your particulars and necessary paper work to be signed ready. No time wasted, you're given your keys and assistance from a porter and voila, you're in your room.
The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and light and a bathroom with a bath and a shower which is situated outside but still connected to the bathroom. Showering and looking out at the ocean in the day and stars in the evening is an experience you have to have.
The setting at Umngazi is really tranquil and the swimming pool, pub and deck areas are well situated so that you can enjoy their awesome meals and cold refreshments whilst looking out across the river.
There are wonderful organised walks with guides and an evening boat cruise up the river, which is a must. We were lucky to see the local Fish Eagle, called by our guide/skipper, swoop down and snatch a sardine thrown in the river by the skipper. An amazing experience!
The evenings around the pub area are fun and new friends are made. Steve, the pub and entertainment manager, held a quiz of twenty questions where the winning team are lucky enough to win a great bottle of wine. Good laughs and some very low scores were the order of the day. I did get two answers correct!
Besides being a magnificent place to visit, the staff, rooms, food and general service all round is "out of the top draw!"
All I can say is on behalf of my wife and myself thank Umngazi and your staff for a great getaway weekend as this was definitely money well spent! Do it, go to Umngazi!
