The Sleeping Bao B&B was established about 12 years ago in the heart of Pietermaritzburg in one of the city's preeminent residential areas. The luxury accommodation is situated less than 5 minutes of the Johannesburg - Durban highway, with easy access to all local amenities and central to the numerous events hosted by in and around the city. (Comrades Marathon, Duzi Canoe Marathon, Midmar mile, AmaShovashova Cycle race)

We are also a perfect spring board to explore the famous Midland's Meanders and the surrounding inherent attractions, with the Indian Ocean and Drakensburg mountains in easy striking distance.

The Sleeping Bao is a beautiful face brick structure with a rich wood interior and a history spanning over 70 years. Situated in country like settings, it is a mere 3 minutes from the city centre and 15 minutes from Oribi Airport.

Rooms are, fully furnished rooms overlooking well established gardens. Rooms have air conditioning / fans, all rooms are fully heated in winter. Each of the rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and TV’s.

Guests have full access to the swimming pool. A braai area around the pool is also available for use.

The family running it were incredibly friendly and sorted us supper as the heavens opened with rain.

Minor suggestions are a brighter light for reading in bedroom, towel hooks in loo/shower, and for contact Manisha's mobile number given to guests as with young children they were naturally busy.

Nice breakfasts and impromptu evening bar added to the atmosphere. Recommend!"
