Staying over at the units made the affair so much more memorable. The rooms are neat and comfortable and we were able to get together and enjoy the evening further. Enjoyed the whole experience immensely.

It was ideal in the sense of being close to the beaches (8min drive) and activities in J-Bay, but in the outskirts where it is less noisy and many open space.
It feels like you are completely somewhere else, with only the occasional sounds of the farm animals to hear.
The hostess were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome from the 1st minute. The breakfast we had every morning was superb to say the least.
I would definitely recommend this establishment to couples, families, anyone.
We will be back for sure.

"Mentorskraal is a beautiful peaceful place, we spent most of our time within the premises, we enjoyed having visitors coming to us, and the establishment allowed us to be visited without any hassles. Our visitors enjoyed their visit and vowed to come to Mentorskraal for their own getaways. We enjoyed swimming, where all the holiday makers were having fun playing volley ball together, we had a wonderful relaxed stay. My family decided that we will be visiting Mentorskraal for next 3 years before we move to somewhere else. We were also glad to hear that there will also be some additional houses, swimming pool installed; we want to be part of their expansion and share the excitement."

Daughter of 8 was captivated by the animals and grandpa of 66 was loving the open space, fresh air and relaxing nature of Mentorskraal. There is fun for the kids with jungle gyms, trampolines and a swimming pool and relaxation for the big people with ample space offered by accommodation, good quality finishes with the comforts of home. Thank you for the lovely time. We all had a wonderful time and will be back!!"

"Although I feel I should mention the two factors that made our stay less than perfect, I have to start off by saying that Mentorskraal personnel, especially Elna, really do go out of their way to be accommodating and that the facilities are modern, comfortable and pleasant. The daily soap opera presented by the resident goat community provides fascinating entertainment from the stoep and the kids loved the wide variety of (well-cared for and happy) farm animals.

Furthermore, the venue on the farm which hosts concerts face directly towards the group of chalets. They are not loud, but definitely audible in the cottages and enough to keep a light sleeper awake."

"Wedding night"

(South Africa) Mrs Nel

"This establishment is well put together and it gives a homely feeling, a home a away from home

The breakfast, I don’t even have words to describe it, its well worth the try. The stay at Mentorskraal to me was more that 5 stars worth

I will recommend this to anyone."

"I found Mentorskraal to be a very enjoyable and relaxing place to base ourselves on our East Coast road trip, being ideally situated close to St Francis and J bay. Rates werer easonable and you got alot for your money, also the people there were friendly and always helpful.

The only gripe was that the TV reception was poor, although this was hardly the point of the trip so its impact was small.

Thanks for having us, we are sure to come again.

"Overall we found Mentorskraal a nice place to stay if a little functional; we have stayed in much nicer but also much worse places.

Good points are that its quiet (except for the animals), close to the N2, safe and secure, clean and well presented room and ensuite room had as well as the usual tea and coffee making facilities a fridge, sink and some crockery provided. Good pool and play area for children as well as the interest of the animals and helpful and friendly owner and staff.

Bad points include a good 10 minute drive (don't walk) from town and beaches if that is what you're there for, dining area located in their function suites away from main rooms and feels like a function room. Feels somewhat staged for tourists and for the wedding/function facilities that are situated there.

Breakfast was ok but limited options on some things; fruit (one day a bowl of apples and the next a bowl of satsumas!), flavour of jam, one flavoured yoghurt was placed at each setting which I found a little strange and no choices offered about eggs/bacon/sausages etc. You take what you are given although I did not request anything specifically and I'm sure that it may have been accommodated. Overall it was perfectly ok but no more than an average bed and breakfast.
