Well we had a wonderful surprise when we arrived. The Cottage was the largest, best furnished, cleanest and had the best views of all the places we had stayed in.

We were very happy there and would recommend it to anyone. The cottage is tucked into the bush and you have total privacy and a wonderful view of the beach. At the same time there is full security and you are close to all amenities.

An intimate yet substantial breakfast was already set out on our table each morning so we were able to eat as and when we wanted. I particularly loved having the enormous patio doors open so we could enjoy the sound, sight and smell of the ocean together with the scent of the fynbos all around the cottage.

Kim and Steve were the perfect B&B hosts - relaxed yet efficient in answering my many e-mails prior to our stay. A lucky find for us!

I was not really expecting the view after paying such an affordable sum for our stay and after seeing a pod of young dolphins jumping in the falling waves we settled into our little cottage.

The beach cottage is a private little house with enough space to keep comfortable and warm after lazing away the day on the beautifully maintained beach or cooking dinner on the braii area provided. A moderately but sufficient kitchen supplied us with the essentials to get us by and the quaint bedrooms held our belongings and slept us well as any good holiday house should.

Instant hot water was welcomed after a daring paddle in the rock pool (only a short walk from our residence) and afterwards enjoying a movie on the TV. was a great way to end the day.

Sad to leave I decided that this would definitely be a place to return to for a home away from home vacation. Spinning Reel Beach Cottages B & B is a lovely retreat for anyone not expecting 5 star luxury but a comfortably adequate stay when away in Port Alfred. I would recommend this to anyone wanting an affordable holiday residence which is all to hard to find anywhere up or down the South African Coast.

"My Mother, sister, grandmother and I had such a wonderful time at the Spinning Reel. The owners went out of thier way to accomodate us when some other bookings fell through and we really felt taken care of.

We are from Canada, which is a very beautiful country, but staying in these cottages on the beach we were in awe of the beauty of the South African beaches.

The cottages all have wonderful veiws and my grandmother spent her time painting them all!
