Path to a stress free body and mind. We celebrate the diversity of yoga in a simple and joyful manner while cooking and eating Sattvic foods for higher consciousness and vitality. A Yoga retreat for beginners or regular practitioners.

“Food is a dynamic force which interacts with the human on the physical body level, the mind emotional level, and also the energetic and spiritual level.

The study of nutrition is the study of the interaction with and assimilation of the dynamic forces of food by the dynamic forces of our total being.” ~ Gabriel Cousens

Gerlinde Vassen has been practising yoga for more than 15 years and is a volunteer and teacher for the Art of Living Foundation, conducting Happiness programs together with her husband in Cape Town.

In Art of Living Yoga and the teachings of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar she found an integrated way of life, allowing people to become more aware, connected and contented. Gerlinde draws on her enthusiasm and love of life and sharing to inspire a holistic and healthy lifestyle combining yoga, meditation and breath-work.

Resident chef Gavin Memper will be focussing on teaching and preparing food from the original Sattvic diet. He will be introducing a sustainable healthy happy way of living. This does not only mean vegetarian food, but food rich in Prana ‘life-force’ like organic fresh fruits and vegetables. It requires avoiding canned and processed food, and foods prepared with chemical fertilizers or sprays. It also means food freshly prepared and made with lots of love and care to add to their Sattvic quality.

During the weekend course we will be combining yoga essentials: breathing techniques, stretching, yoga postures, meditation, relaxation and yogic knowledge. By incorporating all these beautiful facets of yoga, we are able to look beyond the level of the physical body and really sharpen our sensitivity and awareness of subtler levels of existence.

Yoga is not just doing some body-twisting postures – it is experiencing the union of the body, mind and breath – African Relish in Partnership with Art of Living Yoga will give you that experience.
