A Seaside Gem in Gordon's Bay

Last updated: Oct 04, 2016

Stephanie recently went away to Gordon's Bay and had an amazing stay at the luxurious Bayview with its breath-taking views.

Sometimes we can easily forget the amazing treasures that are right on our doorstep. That's definitely what happened to me when we recently visited Gordon's Bay. Only 30-minutes from Cape Town, the coastal town of Gordon's Bay is an ideal seaside destination with its sandy beaches, safe swimming and plenty to see and do.

A few friends and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bayview for 2 magical nights. Bayview is a superbly-furnished, crisp and contemporary, fully-equipped private home with two apartments which can be booked separately or as one. The home is located in the most prestigious area of Gordon's Bay, Suikerbossie Drive, a sophisticated haven which overlooks the old harbour and Bikini Beach.

This luxurious house is perfect in every sense of the word. The interior has incredible attention to detail and is beautifully furnished and decorated. It boasts the most breath-taking views from every room in the house, and on a clear day you can see Table Mountain and Simon's Town in the distance.

Each bedroom is en-suite and has large, walk in cupboards. The main living area is open plan and has a fully equipped kitchen with a walk-in pantry, gas cooker/oven, washer/dryer, microwave and kettle. Plus there is DSTV and complimentary Wi-Fi. The house has quite a few levels which means loads of stairs, but thankfully Bayview has its very own lift.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed by our host Francois who showed us around and then kindly left us to settle in. We got the unpacking out of the way and started on supper, which we later enjoyed out on the terrace, lit by candle-light. The view of the city lights from here was mesmerising.

After freshening up we headed straight for the couch and enjoyed a movie and a cup of delicious coffee provided by our amazing host.

The next morning the ladies were treated with breakfast in bed by the guys - amazing, I know! They even took care of the dishes.

We then took a drive down to the very nearby beach where we spent some time walking along the shore and dipped our feet in the cool water before heading along to the beach front shops. There are some great little gift shops filled with lovely and interesting items that were very reasonably priced.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, but with a general hankering for seafood we decided to go to the well-known Trawlers Restaurant located right on the beachfront. We had some of the most delicious seafood platters that I have had in a long time. After lunch we naturally ended our visit to the beach with some yummy gelato sugar cones.

After arriving back at Bayview we decided to play a few card games and played a round or two of the infamous 30 Seconds, which was also conveniently provided by our host. Thereafter we lounged about on the terrace with cocktails for the most part of the evening.

The next morning we enjoyed a quick breakfast and smoothies and hopped into the amazing, private rock pool for a morning dip. The views from here are mind-blowing.

Sadly our time at Bayview had now come to an end. We packed up and reluctantly started the journey home. If you're looking for superior luxury and comfort with breath-taking views, then Bayview is the ultimate paradise for you.
