Lucille recently enjoyed a wonderful holiday at The Farmhouse B & B in PE with her family.
The Farmhouse B & B certainly made visiting the Friendly City for the first time with my family an experience to remember. It is situated in the lush green suburb of Walmer in Port Elizabeth.
Upon arriving, a little early for checking in I might add, our hostess Melanie was extremely accommodating and we were warmly welcomed and greeted with a friendly smile and a few welcome kisses from the 2 regular canine visitors ( Yes pet lovers, Farmhouse B & B is pet friendly!!!!)
Melanie, intuitively noticing that we needed a rest after our long journey from Cape Town, quickly led us down the lovely pebbled passage to “The Loft” 4 sleeper family suite and gave us a tour of the wonderful rustic style apartment.
From coat hooks, beautifully crafted from old spoons, to an old cast iron pot (I recall very similar to one my great grandmother used to boil water in) to enamel mugs and a magnificent painting of the “Battle of Blood River”, it felt like home.
The bedroom, consisting of two ¾ beds, was wonderfully decorated with a serene verdant finish and an antique chest and cupboard. The room also featured and an almost panoramic view of the lush green neighborhood through the loft window.
The spacious bathroom comprised a beautiful freestanding cast iron bath (just like the one I saw when I dreamed I was a princess in the Victorian era) as well as a shower. As a Capetonian, it was wonderful to see the notices that Farmhouse B & B were water conscious and encouraged their guests to do the same.
Although the Farmhouse took us back in time, like any family home, they still catered for the kids so TV and wi-fi was available, including a wide selection of DVD’s (some great golden oldies to) that was very conveniently provided by our lovely hostess.
The secure off street parking, remote access and security features certainly added to making our stay pleasant and stress free.
Farmhouse B & B also boasts a beautiful garden, wonderfully tended by Melanie and her helper that certainly adds a gorgeous touch to a spectacular old house.
Farmhouse B & B is located only 2km from the airport. The main beaches, including the renowned Boardwalk, are only ±5km away. The apartment is also within walking distance to various shopping centres, restaurants, sports clubs and more.
What would Farmhouse be without B & B? Of course they offer amazing breakfasts and home cooked dinners on request or self-catering if you prefer.
Farmhouse B & B has certainly made my families first visit to PE an experience we will never forget!
