Lunch with a View in Franschhoek

Last updated: Aug 30, 2017

There are plenty of noteworthy restaurants in the Franschhoek valley – in fact Franschhoek boasts a considerable number of South Africa’s Top 100 restaurants, as well as being the only member in the Southern Hemisphere of the prestigious Délice Network of Good Food Cities of the World. And, considering the valley is ringed by spectacular mountains and surrounded by glorious vineyards you’re hard pressed to find a restaurant without a view. That being said, here are a few that are particularly noteworthy.

La Petite Ferme

With its brand new chic decor and interiors and simply spectacular views, as well as consistently being voted one of the top restaurants in Franschhoek, La Petite Ferme comes highly recommended. This is not an overly fussy restaurant, and you’ll see guests wandering outdoors with their glass of wine or coffee to sit on the lawns and simply soak up the view. Open for lunch, as well as dinner in the summer season (November – April).

Haute Cabriere

With a stunning hilltop location, the iconic restaurant and terrace at Haute Cabriere overlooks the valley below, plus it is home to both Haute Cabriere wines and Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques. Don’t leave without trying the beautiful blush Belle Rose MCC. Open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from 12h00, and dinner Tuesday – Saturday from 18h30. Closed on Mondays.

Roca at Dieu Donne

It’s only when you reach the top of the long winding road that leads to Dieu Donne and look back down, that you are greeted by the sweeping panoramic views of the valley and vineyards below. Roca restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating on three levels certainly make for a memorable lunch date.
