The KwaZulu-Natal coastline with its sub-tropical climate is a great year-round holiday and beach destination. Visitors to the province can expect warm oceans, breathtaking scenery, friendly locals, and a rich and interesting history.
The cosmopolitan city of Durban sits at the centre of the KZN coastline and is the cultural and economic hub of the province. Durban is world famous for its Indian food and the lively stretch of beach aptly named the Golden Mile. Many of South Africa's best surfers cut their teeth at these city beaches with its world-class yet accessible surf.
The coastline stretching north from Durban all the way to Mozambique is some of the most unspoilt in the country and offers great deep sea and shore angling. The St Lucia Estuary and the Isimangaliso Wetland Park (one of KwaZulu Natal's two UNESCO world heritage sites) are also located on the North Coast.
The coastline stretching towards the south has some of South Africa's most popular domestic holiday resorts like Margate and Uvongo. Year round, people can be found lazing on the beach, fishing and enjoying the abundance of world class surf in nice warm water.
