Photographing Namibia

Last updated: Jul 23, 2014

Julian Goldswain went on an epic 7000 km, two week long road trip through Namibia during March and April 2005 with his wife. These are a selection of the photographs from the trip.

They toured through the Fish River Canyon, the Namib-Naukluft (including the Moon Landscape and Sosussvlei), Spitzkoppe and Etosha in a little VW Golf.

The concept for this photographic series is to show the interplay between man and his environment. As they traveled through Namibia, Julian captured images that show how the environment has been transformed by man, yet how at the same time the environment has remained unchanged.

The photographs are all courtesy of Julian Goldswain, an established advertising and editorial photographer in South Africa. Since 1998, his work has been exhibited extensively in South Africa, Germany, USA, and he is currently photographing an extended personal documentary photography project about his life.
