You'll get differing views about when is best to visit Namibia, but generally if you're looking for cooler temperatures and more animal viewing in the northern regions, then from May until August is the best time to visit. With less rain during this period animals are forced to move to watering holes making for better them easier to see.
On the eastern border of Etosha National Park is the Onguma Game Reserve stretching over 34 000 hectares. The reserve is home to a wide variety of plains game including giraffe, kudu, eland, zebra and oryx as well as predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard.

One of the more unique lodge options at Onguma is the Tree Top Camp. This small but welcoming camp offers visitors a chance to experience the bush in all its brilliance. The camp is built on wooden stilts with great views over the watering holes. There are four thatched rooms made with canvas walls, each with its own outdoor (but private) shower allowing you to experience the beauty of nature.
Look out from your room amongst the trees and watch as the giraffe, antelope and many other animals come to the nearby watering hole. Activities include Etosha game drives with trained guides, night drives on the Onguma Reserve, bush walks and Rhino research drives.
The Moroccan-inspired Onguma Fort offers some of the best sunset views in Namibia overlooking the Etosha Pan. This one of a kind Fort has 12 Bush Suites, including the main Sultan Suite, with both indoor and outdoor showers, and fire places for winter and air coolers for summer.
