1. Addo Elephant National Park
Less than an hour’s drive out of PE, Addo Elephant National Park is the third largest national park in South Africa. Dating back to 1931, the park was originally founded to provide a sanctuary for the 11 remaining elephants in the area. It is currently now home to hundreds of elephants.
Not to be misled by its name, Addo is also the only national park in the world to house the Big 7 – that is elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo, leopard, whale and great white shark – in their natural habitat.
The park gates are open 07.00 – 18.30 daily, with an entrance fee of R62 for adults and R31 for children.

2. Shamwari Game Reserve
Shamwari Game Reserve has been voted the World's Leading Safari, Game Reserve and Eco-Lodge and Conservation Company for nearly 20 years. Just 75km outside of PE and with 25, 000 hectares of protected land, Shamwari is home to all big safari animals, including the Big 5, as well as a wide selection of antelope.
Shamwari also works in association with Born Free Foundation which funds a sanctuary that gives lifetime care to several lions and leopards that have been discovered in poor conditions in circuses or zoos around the world.

3. Seaview Predator Park
Seaview Predator Park is a privately owned, 120 hectare park on the outskirts of PE. Overlooking the ocean, you’re welcome to drive through Seaview and spot a number of animals including lions, tigers, giraffe, zebra and more.
A favourite among locals and tourists visiting Seaview is not only their sanctuary area and free guided tours, but also the public viewing of the lions being fed, which happens at noon daily.

4. Kragga Kamma Game Park
Upholding the allowance of animals to roam freely, unrestricted in natural surroundings, Kragga Kamma Game Park boasts lush coastal forest and grassland home to vast herds of African game. Animals to be spotted in the park include white rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, nyala, bontebok, lechwe and many more species.
Day visitors are welcome at R65 for adults, R30 for children, and 0-3 year olds get in free. Stay in the park here.
