Food Markets in Stellenbosch

Last updated: Feb 02, 2017

Locally sourced and produced, handmade and artisanal products are what it’s all about at a host of markets in and around Stellenbosch.

The Blaauwklippen Family Market is the best place to spend a Sunday between 10am and 3pm. Everyone is welcome – even your doggies – and there is plenty of fun and entertainment for the kids. Relax beneath the fig trees and enjoy mouth-watering food, crafts and live music. Once a month there is an antique fair added to the mix, and on the 3rd Sunday of the month you can join in the Vineyard Doggy Walk in aid of the Helderberg Animal Welfare Society.

Come rain or shine the Root 44 Market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm. Surrounded by vineyards and shaded by trees, there’s plenty of space for everyone to chill out and relax , plus there’s a play area for kiddies. Food, drinks, live entertainment, jewellery, clothing and other handmade goods are all on offer.

The Stellenbosch Slowmarket takes place every Saturday from 9am until 2pm at the Oude Libertas amphitheatre. Expect great food and wine from local farmers and wine makers, some music and other handmade wares.
