Stephanie recently enjoyed a relaxing weekend away at the Melkboom Villa in Franskraal with her family.
On a beautiful Friday morning we hopped into the car and headed up to Franskraal, a coastal village near to Gansbaai, which is located in the spectacular Overberg region of the Western Cape.
Franskraal, a modest seaside town, boasts a long white sandy beach and is home to many lovely trails including the Groot Melkhoutbos Trail.
We arrived just after 2pm and were welcomed by Jan, who happily took us on a detailed tour of the unit we’d be calling home for the weekend. We stayed in the lovely Melkboom Self-Catering Villa – a great family holiday home.
It has five beautiful bedrooms, a nifty fully equipped kitchen, two beautiful lounge areas, a dining area with large wooden table and chairs as well as a great outdoor braai area, shaded by the majestic Milkwood trees found here. It also has an amazing outdoor deck with breath-taking panoramic sea views.
Linen and towels are provided and satellite TV is also available, ensuring a convenient and pleasurable stay.
We unpacked, settled in and decided to head down to the beach for some fun and sunshine.
After a good few hours we headed back to the villa to clean ourselves up, have a bite to eat (which we whipped up in no time thanks to the fully equipped kitchen in the villa) and then headed off to bed under the luxuriously soft and comfy feather down duvet in the master bedroom of the villa.
The next morning we awoke bright and early to the sounds of the gentle waves and headed straight out to the beach for a morning stroll. Afterwards we headed back to the villa for a light breakfast and lazed around with some interesting books for the rest of the day. (The villa also boasts a great collection of interesting reads as well as family games.)
Later that evening we took a very short drive down to the nearby markets to do some exploring and snack on some delicious treats. Before heading indoors for the night we popped out to the beach once again for some fresh air and sandy toes!
The next morning we hopped out of bed, feeling incredibly relaxed and refreshed after a very peaceful and delightful stay at the Melkboom Villa. We packed up all our goodies and were on our way.
