Great Stay at Josco Smith Cottage in Durban.

Last updated: Aug 30, 2017

Lucille and her family recently enjoyed an amazing stay at the Josco Smith Cottage in Durban North.

Visiting Kwazulu Natal for the first time and experiencing the utter joy of success and achievement as our daughter proudly captured a silver medal for our Province’s U19 waterpolo team, was heightened by the amazing warm welcome and beautiful accommodation at Josco Smith Cottage.

Hidden amid the hustle and bustle of city life we found the peace and tranquility of a home away from home. We were greeted by the friendly smiles of the owners, Walter and Vanessa and their 3 family dogs, when we arrived rather late for booking in. After a very tense and tiring day of waterpolo at the Kingspark swimming pool (only a 10 minute drive from the cottage), we felt right at home.

Walter, intuitively noticing that we were just about ready to pass out, quickly gave us the keys and guided us to the two-bedroomed, 6 sleeper cottage beautifully lit by the warm amber evening lamps on the porch and perfectly located at the top of the property to provide a picturesque view of the seemingly evergreen beauty of Durban North.

It had just started to rain when we arrived, so not being able to take in the sights, we eagerly lay our bags in the invitingly neat bedrooms, which were beautifully made up with everything we needed for a good night’s sleep.

The following day we awoke bright and early to the sweet sounds of singing birds nesting in a nearby tree as the warm sun kissed our faces through the venetian blinds. We spent the day taking in the sights through Durban CBD and then at Umhlanga, located only a 10 minute drive from the cottage.

After a long day of sight-seeing we returned to the cottage for a quiet relaxing evening of sundowners and a braai on the verandah. Here we enjoyed a lovely family meal at the 8 seater table, whilst our daughters had a refreshing swim in the large beautifully maintained swimming pool.

We awoke to the pitter patter of rain drops the next morning and decided to lie in a bit, while in the kitchen our daughters prepared a wonderful farmhouse breakfast. The fully fitted kitchen provided everything they needed right at their fingertips.

When the weather cleared, my husband and I took a delightful stroll through the beautiful garden savoring the sweet scent of the flowers that filled the air.

Walter and Vanessa were wonderfully attentive hosts and made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. The secure off street parking and security features certainly added to making our stay pleasant and stress free.

Josco Smith Cottages also offers another self-catering, fully fitted 2-sleeper cottage for those “just need a short get away” moments.

Josco Smith Cottages has certainly made my families first visit to Kwazulu Natal an experience that will live in our hearts forever!

(The cottage is located close to the Gateway Mall and only 15 minutes from the Suncoast casino.)
