Donkin Heritage Trail

The Donkin Heritage trail is a 5km long trail in the centre of Port Elizabeth. The trail follows the footsteps of the 1820 settlers past 47 national monuments and historical points. Providing a fascinating insight into the rich and fascinating history of Port Elizabeth and South Africa, sights seen include the city hall, a replica of the Diaz cross as well as the Donkin Horses and the Donkin reserve.

The Heritage Trail is named after Sir Rufane Donkin who was the Acting Governor of the Cape Colony at the time. Points of interest along the trail are sign posted with information pieces, making the trail very easy to self-navigate.
