A popular stop-over in Cullinan, Jan Harmsgat Se Agterplaas is an art gallery, live music venue, gift shop and function venue. The Agterplaas was started by Jan Harms Vorster, a creative local who built up this wonderful display of art and entertainment.

The front garden features two metal drag queens made from discarded wire and tins. Walking into the building there are a variety of art works all made from discarded materials including old kettles, mirrors, and cement, including a totem pole that was inspired by a Terry Pratchett novel.

In the ‘agterplaas’ there is a theatre which has played host to many top South African musicians. Guests can enjoy a picnic basket and just sit and relax in this wonderfully bohemian setting.
