With one of the most enviable positions in Franschhoek, Haute Cabrière offers truly spectacular views from its mountainside setting. Steeped in history, the farm was originally granted to a French Huguenot farmer, Pierre Jourdan, on the 22 December 1694, and it has been part of the wine making tradition in Franschhoek for over 300 years.

Producing both award wining wines and Cap Classiques - the still wines are named after the property - Haute Cabrière - and the Méthode Cap Classiques are named after the original founder: Pierre Jourdan.

The Pierre Jourdan Tasting Cellar, situated adjacent to the Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant, offers guests an exclusive wine experience. Every Saturday current owner and well known wine personality Achim von Arnim and his son, Takuan, treat guests to the ultimate in wine theatre. Visitors are taken on an intimate journey through Haute Cabrière's history and wine philosophy. Unique and entertaining, the experience culminates in the use of a famed French cavalry sabre, to open bottle after bottle of Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique.

The Tasting Room is open Monday – Friday from 09h00 to 17h00; Saturday & Public Holidays from 10h00 to 16h00, and Sunday from 11h00 to 16h00.

The ever popular Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant has undergone a chic refurbishment in recent years. Dressed in crisp, white linens and featuring a series of sparkling handcrafted chandeliers and colourful artworks, many by founder Achim von Arnim, the restaurant is understated and stylish. The extensive terrace with its sweeping valley views is ideal for a pre-dinner sundowner drink, as well as being an ideal setting for functions and romantic weddings.

A recently introduced terrace menu offering oysters, cheese or duck liver parfait plates, with home baked ciabatta and a selection of tapas is served on the terrace (weather dependant): Opening hours for the terrace are :Tuesdays - Thursdays: 3pm to 5pm; Fridays & Saturdays: 3pm - 7pm ; Sundays: 3pm - 5pm
