The Umdloti Beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts with its warm waters and an inshore reef ideal for divers and surfers. The beach is watched over by professional lifeguards as well as being protected by shark nets. The name Mdloti is the Zulu word for a species of wild tobacco that grows in the area.
This beach is known to be peaceful and is famous for its dolphin sightings from July – November. Whales are also sighted here.
