The Winterton Museum

Winterton

Opened in 1993 by Sheila Henderson, the Winterton Museum offers a unique insight into the local farming communities that have lived near Winterton including: the San people, Voortrekkers, English settlers, as well as Stone Age and Iron Age inhabitants. The museum is a community museum with contributions from the local people, telling the rich history of the area.

Amongst the exhibits are a reconstructed Zulu Kraal, a display on the battles of Spioenkop and Vaalkrans, a blacksmith workshop, and a display on the history of the local Ngwane people.
