A popular spot for those who enjoy the outdoors, the Spioenkop Dam Nature Reserve offers beautiful views and a variety of wildlife including wildebeest, white rhino, zebra, giraffe and a great number of birds.

Plains around the dam lead to the Drakensberg with views out to Giant’s Castle and Sentinel, and visitors can relax around the dam at one of the many picnic spots. Visitors to the reserve can go on a 3 or 6 kilometre hike around the dam in an area without dangerous wildlife.
