Salt Rock Beach

Salt Rock

Located north of Shaka's Rock and Ballito is Salt Rock Beach, a beach with a friendly holiday feel. The beach is popular with swimmers and divers with a beautiful off-shore reef, and it also offers great surf. There are a number of popular fishing sites as well as family picnic spots and a tidal pool.

Lifeguards are on duty at the beach from 06h00 until 17h30, and it is also protected by shark nets. A cosy caravan park with appealing and shaded sites is situated nearby.

The beach derives its name from the time of King Shaka whose handmaidens would collect dried salt off the rocks at low tide.
