Homtini Cycle Route

The Homtini Cycle Route is a 19km circular route starting from Krisjan-se-Nek picnic site. The route is moderate to hard, and riders of an average fitness should be able to complete the trail in about 2-hours – no need to rush however, there is plenty of spectacular scenery to take in.

The trail travels through indigenous forest and along a single track with exciting descents into the plantations. At the Lawnwood River, cyclists can stop for a swim and a refreshing drink. After the river there is a long climb up to Portland Heights where cyclists are rewarded with sweeping views of the area. At the 14km mark the trail heads into the forest again where there is more single track before joining up with the Millwood Road at the 18km mark and returning to Krisjan-se-nek.

The cost of a permit is R22/person. Permits obtained from the little office at the boom. If the boom is unmanned a self issue permit applies. From Knysna take the N2 towards George, about 8km out take the Rheenendal turnoff to the right. . Follow the signs to the Dalene Matthee Memorial at the Krisjan Se Nek picnic site.
