Set on the western shore of the Knysna Lagoon is the picturesque Belvidere Estate, known for its lush gardens and prolific birdlife – not to mention the views. Here, at the Belvidere Manor, is the Bell tavern – the smallest pub in Knysna. Housed on the site of the original Belvidere farmhouse, the pub has an authentic charm with its yellowwood ceiling and ironwood block floor – and is a favourite amongst the locals.

In summer sit outdoors in the garden to enjoy a glass of wine or a pint of locally brewed Mitchells – and in winter the wood-burning stove creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. Food ranges from typical pub fare such bangers and mash, fish and chips and steak rolls; to salads, pastas and some South African specialties.
