Tembe Elephant Park

Elephant Coast

Located between Zululand and Mozambique, in an area known as the legendary Ivory Route, is the 300 square kilometre Tembe Elephant Park.

Lion, leopard, white and black rhino and buffalo can also be found here, making this a Big Five destination. It is also home to 340 species of bird as well as a huge variety of other animals and flora.

The park is home to three of the largest elephant tuskers in Southern Africa, with Isilo being the largest of the three. A “tusker” is an elephant whose tusks exceed 45.45 kg. Isilo’s tusks are estimated to weigh between 55 and 60kg.
