Kaapsche Hoop

Kaapsehoop

“Home of Blue Swallows and Wild Horses.”

The discovery of gold in the streams around Kaapsche Hoop is what led to the establishment of this town in 1882. The area boasts the ideal climate with fresh winters and pleasant summers.

There are many diverse accommodation establishments to choose from in and around the area, as well as wonderful activities including horse carriage rides, horseback riding (not with the wild horses) and hiking.

The hiking trail is split up into numerous options varying from 2 to 5 nights. The shortest route is 19km and the longest is about 55km. Hikers will come across many wild horses as well as several buildings that were built in the years of the gold rush.
